Description
This stunning torte features beautifully layered, thinly sliced potatoes that are seasoned to perfection and baked until they reach a glorious golden brown.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh thyme sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This crucial first step ensures that your torte bakes evenly and achieves the perfect golden-brown color.
- Next, grab a large mixing bowl to combine your sliced potatoes with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, fresh thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Now comes the fun part! Begin pressing half of the seasoned potato mixture into your greased cake pan, layering them neatly and tightly.
- Cover the pan with aluminum foil to trap steam inside during the first stage of baking. Bake for about 45 minutes.
- After the initial bake, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 20–25 minutes.
- Once your torte is perfectly golden, let it sit for a few minutes to cool slightly.
Notes
Using waxy potatoes such as Yukon Gold will yield better results in texture.
