Description
These crispy chili honey halloumi bites are a delightful appetizer combining sweet and spicy flavors, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 250g halloumi, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 3 tablespoons plain flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons runny honey
- 1 red chili, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon chili flakes)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Handful of chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Begin by tossing the bite-sized halloumi cubes in plain flour, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.
- Next, heat the olive oil in your skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated halloumi cubes to the pan in a single layer. Let them fry for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they develop a gorgeous golden-brown hue.
- In the same skillet, lower the heat slightly and add the honey, chopped red chili, and minced garlic. Cook this mixture for about 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly until it caramelizes and thickens just a bit.
- Return the crispy halloumi bites back to the pan with the spicy honey glaze, gently tossing them to ensure each piece gets coated in that delicious mixture.
- Finally, transfer the glazed halloumi bites to a serving plate and sprinkle with the chopped fresh parsley and add a crack of black pepper for an extra kick.
