Description

These crispy chili honey halloumi bites are a delightful appetizer combining sweet and spicy flavors, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250g halloumi, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 3 tablespoons plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons runny honey
  • 1 red chili, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon chili flakes)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Handful of chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Begin by tossing the bite-sized halloumi cubes in plain flour, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.
  2. Next, heat the olive oil in your skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated halloumi cubes to the pan in a single layer. Let them fry for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they develop a gorgeous golden-brown hue.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat slightly and add the honey, chopped red chili, and minced garlic. Cook this mixture for about 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly until it caramelizes and thickens just a bit.
  4. Return the crispy halloumi bites back to the pan with the spicy honey glaze, gently tossing them to ensure each piece gets coated in that delicious mixture.
  5. Finally, transfer the glazed halloumi bites to a serving plate and sprinkle with the chopped fresh parsley and add a crack of black pepper for an extra kick.
