Description

Deliciously tangy and sweet, these Maple-Dijon Brussels Sprout Skewers are a must-try!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g (1 lb) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden skewers, soaked for 10 minutes

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C) or getting your grill ready at medium-high heat, depending on how you plan to cook. This initial step is crucial for ensuring that your skewers get that perfect finish, whether you roast or grill. While it’s heating, take the time to trim and halve your Brussels sprouts. This will make them easier to cook through and allow the glaze to penetrate each piece effectively.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Using a whisk, blend the ingredients until they form a smooth and cohesive glaze. This mixture is the star of the dish, adding sweetness and tang to the hearty Brussels sprouts. Toss the halved sprouts in the glaze, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated to capture the delicious flavors.
  3. Thread the glazed Brussels sprouts onto your soaked wooden skewers, making sure to keep the cut sides facing the same direction. This not only makes for a neater presentation but also helps in even cooking and browning. Depending on the size of your sprouts, you may fit about three or four on each skewer. Once done, line them up on a baking sheet or directly place them on the grill.
  4. If baking, place the skewers onto the lined sheet and roast them in the preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes. Flip them halfway through to promote even cooking and enhance the caramelization. If grilling, you’ll want to cook them for approximately 12 to 15 minutes, turning them once to achieve that lovely char and grill marks. Keep an eye on them; they should be crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
  5. Once cooked, remove the skewers from the oven or grill. For an extra burst of flavor, drizzle any remaining glaze over the top before serving. This adds a delicious finishing touch. Serve these warm, and watch as your guests delight in the irresistible flavors of Maple-Dijon Brussels Sprout Skewers!

Notes

For added sweetness, drizzle honey on top before serving. Use fresh herbs as a garnish for enhanced freshness and presentation.
