Description

Thai Basil Beef Rolls are the epitome of quick, satisfying street food that packs a punch in flavor and texture.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 1 medium bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 package rice paper wrappers
  • Oil, for pan-frying

Instructions

  1. Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring regularly, until the beef is browned all over.
  2. Next, add the thinly sliced bell pepper and the soy sauce to the skillet. Stir the mixture well to combine the flavors and continue to cook for 2-3 more minutes until the bell pepper becomes slightly tender.
  3. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the fresh Thai basil leaves. The residual heat will gently wilt the basil.
  4. In a shallow bowl, place warm water and submerge one rice paper wrapper for about 10-15 seconds. Once softened, remove and place it flat on a clean surface.
  5. Place a generous spoonful of the beef and vegetable mixture on the lower third of the softened rice paper wrapper. Start rolling it tightly until fully wrapped.
  6. Heat oil in your skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the rolls seam-side down in the skillet. Fry each roll for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  7. Once cooked, remove the rolls from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.

Notes

These rolls are best enjoyed warm and can be served with your choice of dipping sauce.
