Description
Thai Basil Beef Rolls are the epitome of quick, satisfying street food that packs a punch in flavor and texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups fresh Thai basil leaves
- 1 medium bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 package rice paper wrappers
- Oil, for pan-frying
Instructions
- Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring regularly, until the beef is browned all over.
- Next, add the thinly sliced bell pepper and the soy sauce to the skillet. Stir the mixture well to combine the flavors and continue to cook for 2-3 more minutes until the bell pepper becomes slightly tender.
- Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the fresh Thai basil leaves. The residual heat will gently wilt the basil.
- In a shallow bowl, place warm water and submerge one rice paper wrapper for about 10-15 seconds. Once softened, remove and place it flat on a clean surface.
- Place a generous spoonful of the beef and vegetable mixture on the lower third of the softened rice paper wrapper. Start rolling it tightly until fully wrapped.
- Heat oil in your skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the rolls seam-side down in the skillet. Fry each roll for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove the rolls from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
Notes
These rolls are best enjoyed warm and can be served with your choice of dipping sauce.
