Description

The Giant Muffaletta Italian Sandwich is a hearty delight packed with layers of savory meats, creamy cheeses, and tangy olive salad.


Ingredients

  • ¼ lb mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup sliced pepperoncini (optional)
  • ¼ lb turkey ham, thinly sliced
  • ¼ lb mortadella, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 cup olive salad (store-bought or homemade)
  • ¼ lb provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1 large round Italian bread loaf (about 10 inches)
  • ¼ lb beef salami, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp dried basil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread by slicing the large round Italian loaf in half horizontally and brushing with an olive oil mixture.
  2. Layer fillings starting with turkey ham, followed by salami, mortadella, provolone, mozzarella, and olive salad.
  3. Assemble and press the sandwich by placing the top half on and wrapping it tightly, chilling it for at least 2 hours.
  4. Slice and serve, optionally heating for enhanced flavor.
